CLAREX High Transmission Light Diffusers (DR-IIICX)
High-transmission acrylic diffusers designed for backlight displays and other light diffusion applications.
CLAREX DR-IIICX light diffusers are made by incorporating light-scattering particles into clear cast acrylic and applying a heavy matte texture to both surfaces. The result is a diffuser that helps maintain high brightness while improving light uniformity and reducing hot spots.
Available in transmission levels from 45% to 93% in 5% increments, DR-IIICX can be selected to match the brightness and diffusion requirements of the application. These diffusers are often used as replacements for OEM LED backlight diffusers, as well as in flash and other lighting applications where color quality matters.
Benefits of High Transmission Light Diffusers:
- Minimal Color Shift – Standard DR-IIICX diffusers are pure white, making them a strong choice for flash, lighting, and other applications where accurate color rendition matters.
- Wide Transmission Range – Available with light transmission levels from 45% to 93% in 5% increments to support a broad range of brightness and diffusion requirements.
- Consistent Optical Performance – Transmission and diffusion remain stable across sheet thicknesses for more predictable results.
- Newton’s Ring Reduction – Non-glare textures help reduce or eliminate Newton’s Rings in optical and display applications.
- Weather-Resistant Material – Acrylic construction performs reliably in applications exposed to moisture or changing environmental conditions.
- Stable Color Temperature – Offers a 6750K color temperature for balanced light performance.
Sample materials may be available to help you evaluate material performance.
Common Applications for High Transmission Light Diffusers
- LED Backlights and Display Assemblies – Used to support bright, even illumination in backlight systems and display assemblies.
- Flash Diffusion – A strong fit for flash applications where accurate color and even light spread are important.
- Machine Vision Lighting – Helps create more controlled, uniform illumination for inspection and imaging environments.
- Architectural Lighting – Supports visually consistent light diffusion in fixtures and interior lighting assemblies.
- Light Boxes and Signage – Used in backlit displays and signage that require bright, even illumination

HOW IT WORKS
How Acrylic Diffusers Work
High transmission light diffusers use light-scattering particles and surface texture to spread light more evenly while still allowing a high percentage of light to pass through. This helps reduce hot spots, improve uniformity, and maintain brightness in backlight, flash, and other lighting applications.
