CLAREX UV-Transmission Acrylic (UVT, S-0)

Transmits ultraviolet light down to 260nm

Normally, acrylic will have UV inhibitors loaded in which block UV transmission below 380nm and protect the sheets (and everything behind them) from UV damage. But in this case, the UV inhibitors are omitted, resulting in UVT Acrylic which will transmit ultraviolet light down to 260nm. Please note that these sheets will yellow after prolonged exposure to UV (see note below).

  • Transmits Ultra-Violet (UV) light (80% at 300nm)
  • Optical Grade – Excellent optical characteristics
  • No double refraction
  • Available smooth surface or with an anti-glare texture
  • Available scratch-resistant (see note below)

  • Transmission from 260nm
  • Total Light Transmission 93% – Haze 0.1%

Acrylic sheets typically have UV Inhibitors loaded in which protect the sheets from UV damage as well as block UV Transmission. In the case of UV-Transmitting sheets, the UV Inhibitors are left out. This leaves the UVT sheets susceptible to damage/change from UV exposure. The transmission curves will change with prolonged exposure to high UV levels.

Furthermore, the CLAREX Hardcoat includes UV Inhibitors. So while it is possible to add Hardcoat to the UV-Transmitting Acrylic sheets, please note that the Hardcoat will somewhat reduce the UV Transmission.
