CLAREX Acrylic Light Guide Reflectors (LGR)
An all-in-one, simplified solution for edge-lit light guide panel applications.
CLAREX light guide reflector (LGR) sheets are made from clear cell-cast acrylic with a heavy matte diffusive texture on the front surface and white reflective ink on the rear side. When edge-lit, the sheet can function as a light guide panel without separate reflector and diffuser films.
This integrated construction can simplify prototypes and custom lighting assemblies. Because the material does not include built-in uniformity control, final performance depends on the lighting layout and source design. LGR is commonly used for prototypes and applications where uniformity is less critical, though it can also be used for LCD backlighting when the lighting unit is carefully engineered.
Note: CLAREX light guide reflectors are best suited for smaller display applications, up to approximately 24″ diagonal. We have limited capabilities for larger-format panels.
Benefits of Acrylic (PMMA) Light Guide Reflectors
Simplified Light Guide Construction
Offers a lower-hassle alternative to standard light guides that require custom dot patterns, plus separate reflector and diffuser films.
Efficient Light Guide Performance
Designed for backlight applications, LGR helps conduct, diffuse, and reflect light within illuminated display assemblies.
Excellent Optical Clarity
Made from PMMA/acrylic, LGR offers strong light conduction with no birefringence or double refraction.
Consistent Material Quality
Close tolerances and uniform thickness help support reliable performance across the sheet and from part to part.
Built for Versatile Fabrication
Easily cut to size and suitable for laser cutting, milling, printing, forming, and other processes used to create custom parts.
Durable for Long-Term Use
PMMA construction offers excellent weather resistance, with multiple standard substrate colors and color-matching options available.
Common Light Guide Reflector Applications
Formulated for light guide assemblies where efficient internal reflection and controlled light output are required.
LCD Backlighting
Used as a light guide type backlight filter in LCD assemblies
Prototype Light Guide Panels
A practical option for edge-lit panel prototypes without the added complexity of separate films and patterned light guides
Simple Edge-Lit Displays
Well-suited for display applications where lighting efficiency is needed and perfect uniformity is not critical
Custom Backlit Components
Used for custom illuminated parts, panels, and display assemblies
Signage and Graphic Lighting
Useful for backlit graphic panels and signage that benefit from integrated light diffusion and reflection

HOW IT WORKS
How Light Guide Reflectors Work
Light enters through the edges of the acrylic sheet and travels through the clear panel. The rear reflective layer redirects light back through the front surface, while the diffusive front texture helps spread illumination for a more uniform appearance.
