Near-Infrared (NIR) Filters & Sheets

Optical-grade long-pass NIR filters available in a variety of configurations to meet your needs.

CLAREX acrylic NIR filters are designed to transmit near-infrared (NIR) light while blocking/absorbing visible light. Available in multiple configurations, these filters offer cut-ins ranging from 670nm to 910nm to support a wide range of NIR applications.

For applications where glare or reflections interfere with performance, we offer optional anti-reflective coatings specifically designed for NIR wavelengths.

Standard NIR filters block nearly all visible light, allowing less than 1% transmission. For applications exposed to particularly bright light sources, this may not be sufficient. In those cases, we can adjust the formulation by increasing the density of NIR pigments to further minimize visible light leakage.

Benefits of Near-Infrared (NIR) Bandpass Filters

Designed to pass near-infrared wavelengths while blocking or absorbing visible light for optical filtering applications.

Made from high-quality cast acrylic with no birefringence and low wavefront distortion for strong optical performance.

Offers excellent durability in environments where exposure to weathering or chemicals is a concern.

Available with smooth or anti-glare surface finishes to better match application and viewing requirements.

Scratch- and chemical-resistant coatings are available to improve surface durability in demanding environments.

Can be supplied with a custom-tuned anti-reflective coating to support specific optical performance goals.

Common NIR Filter Applications

Designed for applications needing to block visible light and transmit NIR.

Used in instruments and sensing systems that rely on near-infrared transmission and reduced visible light interference.

Supports optical communication systems, machine vision, and other devices that operate in the near-infrared range.

Well-suited for LIDAR and ToF systems that use NIR light for detection and distance measurement.

Helps support covert imaging and illumination systems where visible light suppression is important.

Useful in facial recognition, iris recognition, and other biometric systems that rely on near-infrared illumination and detection.

A strong fit for imaging systems that use NIR light for low-light or covert observation.
