CLAREX Hard-Coated Optical Grade Cell-Cast Acrylic Sheets (RH)
Hard-coating adds scratch and chemical-resistance.
The CLAREX hard-coat can be added to the surface of the sheets for increased scratch and chemical resistance, as well as for a base layer for optical coatings. But this is not your typical abrasion-resistant coating. The factory has developed a unique process for applying the coating, which maintains the optical grade properties of the acrylic sheets, as well as the ability to apply the hard coat to their non-glare textured surfaces without affecting the surface texture properties. Say goodbye to the surface defects typical of flow/dip/roll coated acrylic sheets…the CLAREX hard-coat is truly optical grade. The hard coat is acrylic-based, outdoor (UV) stable, and will not delaminate.
Benefits:
- Scratch resistance improved from 2H to 6–8H pencil hardness
- Enhanced chemical resistance
- Excellent machinability and laser-cutting performance
- Maintains same optical-grade properties as uncoated CLAREX sheets:
- Low wavefront distortion
- High light transmission – 92% for clear sheets without anti-reflective coating
- Isotropic transmission
- No birefringence of double refraction – no retardation of polarized light
- Virtually no autofluorescence (due to pure liquid monomer)
- High long-path transmission
- High molecular weight (2+ million)
- 100% visually inspected for defects
- Ideal base substrate for adding optical coatings
- Need even more scratch resistance? See our Super Hard-Coat option
- If we don’t already have the color you need, color-matching is available
